Lake Mary Little League opens its run in the 2024 Little League World Series tonight against the team from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
The Florida team represents the U.S. Southeast region. It won all four games in the regional tournament by a combined score of 35-8. The South Dakota team, meanwhile, went 4-1 in the Midwest regional tournament, avenging its only loss by beating Missouri 6-1 for the title.
The winner will play Puyallup, Washington, on Friday, while the loser faces either Staten Island, New York, or Henderson, Nevada, in an elimination game Saturday. The LLWS runs through August 25, when the winners from the U.S. and international brackets face off in the championship game.

Florida vs South Dakota in 2024 LLWS: Live score updates, highlights
First inning
7:10 p.m.: South Dakota's Ryan Henry throws the first pitch for a strike.
7:13 p.m.: After Chase Anderson led off the game with a single to right field, South Dakota pitcher Ryan Henry struck out JJ Feliciano looking and forced an inning-ending lineout for a double play from DeMarcos Mieses.
7:21 p.m.: Chase Anderson earned a SportsCenter Top 10 nomination with an over-the-shoulder, one-handed catch in shallow center to end the inning. South Dakota went down in order, with JJ Feliciano striking out one hitter.
Second inning
7:29 p.m.: Florida stranded a runner for the second inning in a row. Landon Bono one-hopped the wall with a leadoff single to center, but South Dakota's Ryan Henry retired the next three batters.
7:35 p.m.: As his father, Daniel, was being interviewed by ESPN's Julie Foudy, JJ Feliciano struck out two South Dakota hitters to polish off a scoreless second inning. The right-hander had 13Ks in seven innings during Southeast regional competition.
Third inning
7:40 p.m.: Teraj Alexander slammed a double to deep right center, but Luis Calo was thrown at home attempting to score from first base. Florida has four hits in the game, but the score remains 0-0 with one out in the third.
7:43 p.m.: South Dakota escapes trouble as Ryan Henry struck out Lathan Norton with a runner on third to end the inning.
7:48 p.m.: JJ Feliciano has retired the first nine South Dakota hitters in order, collecting five strikeouts and touching 75 mph with his fastball. Florida and South Dakota are tied 0-0.
Fourth inning
7:54 p.m.: Florida went down in order for the first time in the game. South Dakota pitcher Ryan Henry has scattered four hits and recorded four strikeouts on the mound.
7:58 p.m.: South Dakota has its first runner on base. Griff Sommer drew a leadoff walk against JJ Feliciano, who needed just 29 pitches to navigate the first three innings.
8:03 p.m.: The bases are loaded for South Dakota. Tait Ready rallied from an 0-2 count to walk, and Kennyel Flores dropped down a perfect bunt single.
8:08 p.m.: Ryan Henry helped his own cause, delivering the game's first run with an infield single behind the bag at second. South Dakota takes a 1-0 lead with two outs.
8:11 p.m.: South Dakota sent seven batters to the plate, and forced Florida pitcher JJ Feliciano to throw 29 pitches in the fourth inning. Feliciano struck out a pair and limited the damage to a single run by forcing Luke Fenton to line out to left. Florida trails 1-0 entering the fifth.
Fifth inning
8:18 p.m.: Florida is in position to tie the score. Landon Bono and Garrett Rohozan walked to start the inning, and Jacob Bibeau smacked a single into shallow center. As South Dakota did the inning before, Florida has the bases loaded with one out.
8:20 p.m.: Florida levels the score 1-1 on a hard-hit single up the middle by Liam Morrisey. The bases are still full with one out.
8:22 p.m.: Garrett Rohozan scored the go-ahead run for Florida on a sacrifice fly from Luis Calo. Jacob Bibaud was tagged out at home to end the threat. Florida leads South Dakota 2-1 entering the bottom half of the fifth.
8:35 p.m.: Florida will take a 2-1 lead into the final frame. JJ Feliciano is up to nine strikeouts, adding two more in the fifth, and he stranded two South Dakota runners in scoring position when Sully Krueger's soft liner was caught at second base.
Sixth inning
8:42 p.m.: South Dakota made another strong defensive play to halt Florida's aggressiveness on the basepaths. Lathan Norton flared a one-out single into left, but Christopher Chikodroff was tagged out at third base. Florida leads 2-1, and needs three more outs to clinch the win.
8:47 p.m.: JJ Feliciano struck out South Dakota's first two batters of the sixth, but was removed from the game after exceeding the 85-pitch limit. He finished with 11 Ks in 5⅔ innings, allowing two hits, three walks and one earned run.
8:52 p.m.: Luis Calo recorded a one-out save, striking out Kennyel Flores to clinch Florida's 2-1 victory over South Dakota. Southeast Region teams improve to 11-0 all-time against their Midwest counterparts. JJ Feliciano picked up the win with 11 strikeouts in 5⅔ innings.
Florida will next face the Northwest representatives from Puyallup, Washington, at 7 p.m. Friday.

Lake Mary is making its first trip to the Little League World Series. They are the 24th Florida team to make the trip to Williamsport, and while eight teams from the Sunshine State have been runners-up,no Florida team has won the championship.

Williamsport weather update: Is it raining at LLWS?
There was some rain in Williamsport on Wednesday afternoon, causing a delay during the New Hampshire vs. Hawaii game at Lamade Stadium, where Florida and South Dakota are scheduled to play tonight. The game at nearby Volunteer Stadium between Chinese Taipei and Canada, scheduled for a 5 p.m. start, got underway about 5:30.
The start of Florida-South Dakota is still scheduled for 7 p.m., though Weather.com shows a quick burst of rain could be coming again within the hour.
